Q- What are Sisterlocks?

A- Sisterlocks is a trademarked natural hair care system with a distinct parting grid and tool that takes advantage of tightly textured

hair to create stable small locs without having to alter the natural strands

Q- What are Microlocks/Interlocs/Crochet Locs?

A- Other types of locking methods created by using tools and varying parting techniques to achieve a variety of loc sizes for both

textured and straight hair types

Q- What products are used?

A- With interlocked locs (all listed above) there is no use of gels, grease, glue, or beeswax to lock/maintain the hair. Only a sulfate

free shampoo is recommended

Q- How much hair do I need to start?

A- You need at least 3 inches of new growth to start your locs

Q- Can I walk-in and lock my hair today?

A- NOT WITH US!!! All clients MUST have a detailed consultation, which covers hair history, the various locking types to assist with determining the best method for your hair, and a 1 to 2-week timeframe to wear a few test locs to see how the locs behave before

committing to a costly and timely service. DO NOT RUSH THIS PROCESS!!! If you want something "speedy" we recommend braids

or twists (we don't provide those services)

Q- Can I start with extensions?

A- We do NOT start any locs with extensions. For smaller locs, extensions may cause added tension on the root which could cause

the hair to break over time. Extensions only EXTEND, they do not provide fullness or scalp coverage unless properly styled

Q- Can I wash my hair or get it wet?

A- YES! Washing your locs is mandatory and vital for the maturation process and for hygienic purposes.

Q- How soon can I color my locs?

A- Please understand that color (rinses, permanent, henna, etc) will alter the texture/curl pattern of your care and could dry out

your hair causing damage if not treated properly. You should color your hair before locking or you must wait until your locs are

matured.

Q- Can I oil my scalp or spray my locs?

A- NO! Adding products to your hair reflects “shine” which is artificial and can clog your scalp pores and attract undesirable

materials in your locs. Your scalp is capable of producing a natural oil which displays as “sheen” and is the goal for healthy locs

Q- Do I need to cover my locs when I go to bed?

A- It may help to protect the integrity of your locs and to ensure no unwanted material (lint, etc) embeds in your hair. You can use a

loc soc or any satin head covering (satin pillowcases are ok)

Q- Why does my scalp feel itchy or get flaky?

A- Several reasons being you are not using products, you are not brushing/combing daily to assist with scalp exfoliation and more

scalp is exposed due to your loc parting structure. Your scalp may be “in shock” and is in the process of shedding excess skin while

producing a natural oil while detoxing from years of product usage and buildup

Q- Will my locs break or pop due to the smaller size?

A- With a skilled and experienced professional, your locs should thrive. Locs are not always one size and we use the consultation to determine proper sizing. Usually locs break or pop if there is an underlying health condition, poor maintenance with scheduling and

grooming, or unnatural tugging. The locs we start and service are not “twisted” but are “interlocked” into a weaving pattern allowing

the tension and weight of the loc to be equally distributed from root to tip

Q- Can I style my locs?

A- YES! With the use of rubber bands, hair pins, rollers or even braiding you can achieve a variety of styles. We do not recommend

heat (flat irons) or products (heavy gels/oil)s

Q- How long will it take for my hair to lock?

A-There is no magic number *SORRY* It could take as less as 6 months to over 2 years. This is determined by your individual hair characteristics. Enjoy the journey

Q- Now that I have my locs, what should I do?

A- LISTEN TO YOUR CONSULTANT!!!! You’ve done the research, made the appointments, and invested the time and money!! Your

Consultant (that YOU chose) is your guide while on this journey and can best give you accurate information for any question or

concern you may have. Beware of online advice from persons who are not actively maintaining your locs or are not familiar with

your hair lifestyle...GET OFF SOCIAL MEDIA!
